In 1953, Animal Behavior
Enterprises contracted with a savings and loan association in Los Angeles
to produce a TV commercial featuring a large rabbit named Buck. The
thrifty rabbit
placed oversized coins into a model bank to the sound of a catchy
little tune. Other exhibits developed by ABE included a rabbit that
opened a bank vault and dispensed free coin-saving banks.
The television commercial
was a huge success and ran for 20 years as a staple of LA's local television
programming.
