Stimulus Control

As an animal learns a behavior through reinforcement, it is often desirable to teach the animal to perform the behavior in a particular situation with particular stimuli present and not in other situations or with other stimuli present. This is referred to as stimulus control and important concepts include discrimination training, discriminative stimulus, and S-delta. We recommend that you read the Learning Objectives for this section, explore each of the Concepts/Terms, and work through the Learning Activities.
