Many dogs were trained for ABE projects. Some, like Putty (shown on the left with Keller Breland), became internationally known when they were featured in publicity shots in leading magazines.

In addition to ABE trained acts, dogs were trained by the Brelands and Bob Bailey for military contracts. The acute senses of the canine and its "cooperativeness" made it suitable to military tasks and also a favorite animal with military and police trainers.
