An unlikely patriot, the ground hog is especially suited to the behavior of pulling a rope to raise a flag, because of the nature of its grasping paws.  Acts such as this were standard IQ-Zoo fare, and flag raising behaviors were trained for other animals as well, such as macaws in major bird shows.
